Rwandan Mountain Gorillas, Rwanda

Previous Image Next Image
After trekking for an hour and a half through the picturesque Rwandan Mountains we were stopped by our armed guards. They led us down through some thick bushes to a Misty opening, grunting Gorilla noises with every step. Once we made it to the opening we were greeted by one of four Silverback Gorillas. The Silverback and guard exchanged grunts for about a minute, and then we were granted permission to stay. We watched the 34 members of the Susa tribe in abolute astonishment. The Gorillas let us go within two metres of them to pose for photographs and view them in their native habitat. I was happily taking photographs the whole time. During our time in their environment a pair of twin Gorillas ran past me playing and slapped me on the leg. After an hour exactly the Gorillas decided visiting time was over and ran off in to the bushes, it was a truely amazing experience.
